PROJECTS

At RKF, we believe in taking up projects where our involvement will help alleviate any short-term issues but with the long-term picture in mind. We cannot expect children to perform well in National exams unless we address the issues of absenteeism due to hunger and lack of proper sanitation. In the short-term, we must address the more pressing issues at hand to ensure the children go back and stay in school before we expect them to perform exceptionally in the National exams.
At present, we work with ECD Centers and Primary Schools in the slums and rural areas of Kisumu. Our aim is to help those who have been struggling for a long time, but have continued to educate the younger members of their local communities.
One of the biggest challenges we aim to address through our Feeding Program is the issue of absenteeism in school due to poverty. Many children stay at home or look for casual labour as a means to feed themselves, leading to a decrease in their attendance which not only causes poor performance, but early drop outs as well.
In order to combat this, we work with the school to create a functioning and positive learning environment that keeps the children engaged in their education, but also to maintain their motivation to continue with their studies.
"Don’t just create; create to change; change to improve; improve to increase. Aspire to inspire.”
